THOUGHT:

What is work? Work is what I have been doing today, it is the coming and going one does in order to see that something happens or takes place. There is, or rather seems to be another word we associate with work and that is vocation. Vocation is not the thing one does once or twice a year to get away from everything, rather it is that heart felt obligation of your life. Vocation is your calling.

Today, I different callings that led me to do work in a number of different ways. Almost fifteen years ago, a calling began that did not get answered for a while, but when I opened my ears and heart, found it was leading me to do something else. Ten years you do to make a living.

Hear the Good News, your calling is the place where your deepest gladness and your heart meet the hunger of society, the world. Where is your calling? Where is it that your heart meets the needs of others?

PRAYER:

God who calls me into being and walks along side of me, open my heart and ears again so I might know where you lead me. Let me lay aside my selfishness and self-interests to follow the calling you have placed within my heart. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
