VERSE:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths
straight.

THOUGHT:
Our Scout troop is getting ready to go to Philmont
this summer. Philmont is a High Adventure Camp. As a scout, one of
the dreams you might have is to go to Philmont. What is so neat about
Philmont. You are dropped off at point "a" and your task is to
hike through the mountains of New Mexico to get to point "b".
Oh yeah, the distance from a to b varies, but is typically 60 plus miles.
You get to have only what you carry, and the trek usually lasts 7-10 days.
It is an amazing week. I went in '84. It could be a rough trip,
but if you have your map and compass, it is a real treat.
Life can be like that trip.
Without direction and guidance, the trip turns into a nightmare. But
with direction and guidance, the trip is full of beauty, surprise, excitement
and grace.
Hear the Good News, you have
the direction and guidance you need, and it is Christ. As God works
within you, you will sense a draw, a movement in your life that will help you
along your journey. This direction in turn allows you to walk head up,
looking and experiencing your surroundings instead of head down, fearful of
where you might step.
PRAYER:
Father, please give me courage look to You as I walk along
my journey. Help me to look up, and be a witness to Your Love and Grace.
Remind me to not lean on my own understanding. Have Your Spirit stir
within me and give me Your understanding and Your vision. In Jesus' name.
Amen
