VERSE:
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought
us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
-- Colossians 1:13-14, New International Version

THOUGHT:
What a powerful image this passage delivers. Being rescued
from the turmoil of selfishness, then invited to be a part of God's plan and
peace, and finally redeemed, or made clean to start a new day, a new life.
Can you imagine being spared
from the traffic you may have faced today? What about the little
senseless things that just grate at your soul, robbing you of peace?
Then there is the cloud that may follow you for things not done right or
justly.
It is so easy to be caught up
in a life full of reasons to give up or give in. But hear the Good News,
we have been rescued and brought into God's Fold. Though you may seem
like things are going haywire, rest assured that through your faith, God's
activity in your life will bring peace to all situations. The key is to
accept the invitation.
PRAYER:
Almighty God and Loving Father, I am not delivered from the
dominion of darkness by my own doing, but Yours. It is through the
sacrificial love of Jesus that brings me into your presence. For all
that you have done, for all that you have made me, and for all that it cost
you, I praise you and offer my life as a sacrifice of praise. In your name,
Lord Jesus, I offer up my praise. Amen.
