– Wisdom
March 28,
2001
Verse:
“Take
my instruction instead of silver and knowledge rather than choice gold; for
wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare
with her."
-- Proverbs 8:10-11
Thought:
They
walk in, polished and poised, smile on their face, joyous to see everyone.
The attention they receive is not because of what they are wearing(unlike
the Oscars), rather it is about that something else, the way they carry
their head, the way they take each step. Maybe it is their smile.
Wisdom is enters our life with grace and proceeds us with elegance.
Wisdom can, if we let it, shape our day, our life, our faith.
Hear
the Good News, of
the many gifts of the Spirit, of the many gifts that God gives us all,
wisdom is one that is in fact offered. Wisdom is not
impulse, it is not spontaneity.
Wisdom, as it comes from God, is like a combination of intuition and the
heart. It is about listening to the prompting of the Spirit, knowing
who we are and what it is we are being called to do. There are and
will be many short-cuts in our life, but the fact remains you can't buy
wisdom, appearance does not strengthen our wisdom, nor does wealth.
But seeing beauty where it may be hidden, having a wealth of experience
and offering your own self to others, these are definitely fruits or signs
of wisdom.
Prayer:
Gracious Father, heart
and soul, intuition and listening, if these are tools or elements of wisdom,
it seems as though I may be ready. Help me to be wise instead of
impetuous or foolish. I pray
that the mark I leave here on earth is one that makes a positive
difference. More importantly, that the mark left, brings people to
know you. Thank
You for all You have done in my
life, and all You will continue to do, through Christ our Lord I pray.
Amen.
