Verse:
“If
you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort
from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and
compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the
same love, being one in spirit and purpose."
-- Philippians
2:1-2
Thought:
Looking
into blue of the sky, watching as the birds glide through the air, as
effortless as the wind itself, we can find our self longing to be
like the birds. But because of definite problems with our physical
make-up, density of bones, lack of feathers or skin that would allow us to
glide, we know we can not do it our self. Yet, if we look past the
birds, we can also see the excitement of flight in airplanes and
jets. Our ability to move beyond our physical limitation, with the
aid of a flying machine. like wise when we look at the depths of our
heart and soul we also find there is a life we wish we could live, one
being fulfilled, selfless and full of love.
Hear
the Good News, it is through
Christ, His Passion and His sacrifice that we have a life being
fulfilled with selflessness and love. "Weep
not for me," the Man who can say these words upon the cross is also
able to save us from our own tears of selfishness and self-pity. As
these tears move those who witness the selflessness, our own tears move
from tears of self-pity to tears of remorse and repentance. If we
are able to take into account that possibly the element of our life which
holds us back from being like the Man on the cross, from uttering the
words "weep not for me," is not about our character, life
in general, but about something different, we have hope. This coming
Sunday we remember both Palm
Sunday and Passion Sunday.
The triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem.
Today, as with every day there is another Triumphant entry we celebrate,
that is the entry of Jesus into our life. Together, with
Christ, we will grow to be
a new creation. Life, lived
one day at a time, with encouragement, comfort, love, tenderness,
compassion, and fellowship through and within Christ, is a life united and
new.
Prayer:
Gracious Father, as
I look into the sky, I am reminded of my own limitations, that I can not do everything
on my own, and that the world does not revolve around me. Yet I have
Christ in my life, one who reminds me that as
I am united with Him, I am able to transcend the limitation of my own
heart, having a heart that is near and like Christ. Thank
You for all You have done in my
life, and all You will continue to do, through Christ our Lord I pray.
Amen.
