Verse:
“But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
Thought:
Yesterday morning, as children do, Casey woke up and began her morning in an excited fashion. She
rolled out of bed, left her room and came into ours. When she got to our room, she began to crawl
low to the ground. From the door she crawled to the foot of the bed and over Hailey, our dog. When
reached the side rail of the bed she froze. Before she could make another move, "Happy Birthday to
you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Casey. Happy Birthday to you" I caught her by
surprise and out outgoing daughter stopped looked around became shy and motionless, then ran over to
me. I lifted her up onto the bed and said, "Happy Birthday". With her blanket in one hand she
raised the other and said, "I'm four". After some hugs and excitement, she wanted to open presents,
it was her birthday. She knew they were there, she knew they were waiting for her.
Hear the Good News, we have a present that is offered to us in Jesus Christ. He is there for us and
is a gift from God. We walk through life trying to do the best we can with what we have, however, we
know there is something more for us. Recently, in Time Magazine there is an article about a
"God Gene". It seems that scientists believe we have a gene that predisposes us to seek a higher
power, to seek God. What a present. As Jeremiah reminds us, God is in fact written upon our hearts,
for that matter it is written within our DNA.
Now here's the thing, just as God is written upon our hearts, we know that there is something
waiting for us. This present that is waiting for us is Jesus Christ. It remains wrapped until our
Birthday, our New-Birth day. It is wrapped and waiting for us to open it. It is a gift wrapped in
both love and sacrifice. Christ is the Gift of God's unfailing Love and Grace. It is ours, but we
still must see, open and accept it. Birthday are exciting times for family and friends. We get to
share something with the ones we love. Our New-Birth day is an exciting day for God. Open your
present
Prayer:
Gracious God, thank You for my New-Birth day. Thank You for your Love and care. Most of all thank You for Your gift of Jesus Christ. As precious a gift it is in my life, let me never forget what You have done for me. Help me to reach others that they too might know a New-Birth day. Thank You for all You have done and all You continue to do. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Grace & Peace
