– God's
Plan Wins
March 26,
2001
Verse:
“[B]ecause
if this plan or this undertaking is of human origin, it will fail; but if
this is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them-in that case you may
even be found fighting against God!"
-- Acts 5:38-39
Thought:
You
have the vision, the plan, the focus. The need is clear, the gifts
necessary to meet the need are not only understood, but you have them.
Everything is planned out from beginning to end. Distractions and
variables are also factored in. As the time approaches, there is no
doubt as to what you are doing or how you will achieve your goal, your
direction. So, you reach into your closet to grab your pants or
skirt, quickly slip on your shoes and top it off with your coat. Well
on your way, to your horror, you notice, the coat-it's the wrong one!
The shoes, though similar, one is brown, the other black. Your
heart sinks images of incompetence flood your mind. Frustration.
The embodiment of frustration.
Hear
the Good News, plans that are of God can meet frustration after
frustration, barrier after barrier, yet it will not see failure. The
Apostles, though they met with a great deal of frustration, opposition,
and even pain, they were following the plan of God. This undertaking
belonged to one greater than any opponent. "If God is for me,
who then can be against me?" We will all meet frustration and
disappointment in our life, but the truly important things in life, God,
Family, Humanity, as these meet with frustration and disappointment, know
that God is present and God will not be overthrown. Work is work,
petty is petty, but Life and God, they transcend all.
Prayer:
Gracious
Father, frustration enters my life, oh, too often. I doubt myself, my
life and my own direction. At times like this, I need Your
reassurance. I need to know that what I am doing with my life is
faithful to that which You want from me. I have been so fortunate to
see Your activity in the life, of my family, my friends and my church, I
hope to see this presence all of my life. Keep me solely focused on
You all of my days, as I do understand and believe that those plans that are
of your origin will not meet with human demise. Thank
You for all You have done in my
life, and all You will continue to do, through Christ our Lord I pray.
Amen.
