E-votional - 'Dem Dry Bones
March 12, 2002
Verse:

"I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you on your own soil; then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken and will act," says the LORD."

Ezekiel 37:14 (NIV)

Thought:

Those great words of wisdom from Yoda, "no try, do, or do not" or words close enough remind us of th power of doing verses trying. When Ezekiel was led through the valley of dry bones God told him what to do about the bones, not what to try with the bones but what to do. The bones being raised were the result of the power of doing, the power of God, not the power of trying.

Hear the Good News, the power of God in our life breathes into us the power to do, not to try. Jesus calls us to do, to make disciples, not to try to get 'em. When God called Moses, He told him what to do. With Ezekiel, he was told what to do. How often we know what to do, but set our self up for failure because all we will do is try, it is like we do not want to invest all of our energy into the endeavor. If I am going on a trip will not try to make reservations, I will make them, as I have to, it is a necessity. You cant try to love someone, you either do or do not. Even food, we say we will try it, but the fact of the matter, in eating it, we do. What if the word from God was. Jesus, try to make a difference?

Prayer:

Gracious God, not only have You done in my life, but You call me to do. Why, oh why, You have done something in me, I will never know, but I am thankful. Please continue to work in me, and allow me to work in the lives of others. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
